The idea of installation project started from December 2011, the time I was heading to Berlin from U.K. A news in a Television was totally attracting my attention: About 45000 residents in Koblenz in Germany were evacuated, because officials found a WWII dud in River Rhine. Experts predict, except the bomb they just found, there are still more than 100 thousand duds buried inside German territory. While waited in the line to pass security check in airport, due to the serious atmosphere, I couldn’t stop to relink the news and the situation that I was going to encounter. The officers checked me, checked everyone so carefully and solemnly, as if playing a hunter game - one of us is a human bomb, and they are going to find it out ( maybe you have also seem the science fiction film Impostor ?).
The installation is trying to reverse this nervous feeling, which every passengers probably share together during international flights. I change the sound of the metal detector gate, from alarm into typical comedy laugh. So the passenger will be “mocked” when passing by the gate.
